Excellent local cuisine and fine dining prepared by Vincent Guyon and just 50 meters from La Petite Folie.
Recommended by Bottin Gourmand, Gault & Millau, Champérard, and Pudlo. Vincent, (chef extraordinaire and a good friend of ours) prepares in my opinion the best foie gras in Normandy and their seasonal, carefully chosen menus are a great value and way for you to sample and enjoy extraordinary, local cuisine. Advance reservations highly recommended.

Native of Honfleur Fabrice Sébire studied under a series of well-known international chefs before working at some of the most prestigious restaurants in Paris including la Tour D'Argent, and Le Grand Véfour. He returned with his wife Karin iand opened Le Bréard. Located in the heart of Saint Catherine, this restaurant provides menus (only) at reasonable rates using local ingredients.The deserts are to die for, especially their Passion Fruit Souffle or the ever popular Decadence autour du Chocolate. A lovely, protected terrace just perfect for leisurely lunches and very nice for summer evenings as well. Careful, on weekends they offer only their menus @ 45 and 55€ per person. Highly recommend to reserve in advance.

Situated on the place St Catherine, just minutes by foot from us., a fine restaurant with fresh fish, meats and local choices with that special ‘french touch’. Always a lovely table setting with excellent service from Pascale, if you are looking for something special this is a good option. Lilly and Bertrand the owners are simply delightful. The best restaurant we have been to since the Sa Qua Na and now with a recent writup in the New York times and their second Michelin star received in 2012. If you are ok for a gorgeous ride across the stunning Normandy Bridge and into the not-so-stunning ville of Le Havre, this is THE address. Jean-Luc Tartarin, a well known chef opened this contemporary designed restaurant in the heart of Le Havre. I felt like I was at a fancy chic restaurant in Manhattan the service was excellent and the food and presentation are unbelievable. Lots of flavor, imagination along with menus and a la carte choices that change with the season. Please reserve in advance. Finally if (like us) you love to partake in wine and/or other spirits, please allow us to assist you with a taxi!

Chef Gilbert Petit , his lovely wife Martine and staff offer a good selection of fresh choices and sumptuous seafood platters, fish, meats and a terrific dessert menu. For those of you looking for Fruit de Mer this is the place for you! Fresh and changing with the season, lots of choices from Oysters only to full ‘degustation menus’ with or without Normandy's famous 'Homard Bleue' (Bleue Lobster). Just minutes from the house, they have a lovely terrace overlooking the St Catherine church. Nice service, reasonably priced wine and spirits!

Anne Marie prepares and serves the best salads, plats du jour, fresh oysters and of course her wonderful fresh bread which she makes herself and serves with each meal along with a good helping of local salted Normandy butter ! Just wonderful and five minutes from the house, no fancy schmancy, just a good salad or meal and a glass of wine! Be forwared everything is prepared (with love) by hand so if you are in a rush, this is perhaps not the best choice for you. Non-stop service throughout the day starting from lunchtime.

Just good ol home cookin’
Here we are in Normandy and finally within walking distance we have a terrific new restaurant (Penny approved, good prices nothing fancy) but what it does has is excellent cuts of beef, service with a heart and lots of homemade goodiesincluding fries, desserts and all those french dishes you hear about like Tripes, ris de veau etc. Jonathan (just 22 years old) will take good care of you with his folks helping him (Dad is an ex champion de France Tripes) mom in the kitchen A great, local feel restaurant that my husband and I both love. English limited. . I dare you to try finishing the cote de bœuf (if you do let us know) ! A good option for Tuesdays when many of the restaurants in town are closed.

Two options both just up the street… Il Parosole for good italian food served till midnight on weekends during high season (very good and we love Nicolas the server) Closed tuesdays. Le Vintage jazz club serves tapas just till 22H30 and live music on the weekends.
...for the best, local seafood catch...
…Head to Trouville (a lovely 20 minute ride on the coast road) and try either theLe Vapeur or Le Central located side by side and directly across from the seafood market. Both institutions in their own right and serving up fresh seafood to locals as well as the jet set for years. Which one to choose? I always go for the one that has the nicest sunlight that time of the day or evening. For those of you who have a hankering for a glass of Ruinart champagne (my absolute favourite) try the Vapeur. Careful as you can imagine anywhere that serves superb champagne by the glass and is right next to Deauville is not necessarily the best value in town! Watch that your ‘typical French brasserie meal’ does not cost you more than it would; for example; at Sa Qua Na !

His name translates to ‘Scribble’ and the ceiling of his store is covered with eggbeaters given to him by clients over the years. A real personality here in town, giggles and smiles assured in this great and very local environment loved by locals and tourists alike. The shelves bursting with regional products many of which adorn his name.
Calvados, Pommeau, Crème de Pomme Verte, Liqueur de Poire, de Cassis et Calvados; not to forget terrific apple juice, jams & confiture du lait that you can sample here at Penny-breakfast!
